Lately I've been having fun playing The Dating Game at I'll either give bizarre answers as the contestant or ask weird questions when I am the 'Chooser'. I've been hitting a creative wall coming up with new freaky questions. I need fairly short questions to ask in the game ('You're. Ask any girl: What do you look for in a guy? The first answer is usually: a good sense of humor. With guys it is an important dating factor, but not quite as vital as with girls. If you think about it, being funny isn't easy. It takes good timing, a high degree of intelligence and the ability to 'read' people. In fact, you might say it's evolution at work. One of the main goals of dating is to get to know the other person. Using the right funny questions can help you steer them into important topics, without making them uncomfortable. For instance, how do they feel about kids? In this article we will look at the use of humor in dating and give you some good funny dating questions. Hopefully they will help you put a smile on your date's face. When it comes to funny dating questions, timing and matching the questions to the date is very important. Tip: Try to find conversation topics, where your interests are the same or overlap. That way you will be knowledgeable about the topic and you will have more fun. Remember, if you are having fun, chances are they are having fun. Sexual dating humor I would stay away from this, on the first date, unless it's going really well. Sexual humor is used to put your date in the right frame of mind, if you think things might end up in the bedroom. Be careful, because if it goes wrong you might end up putting your date off the whole idea. With online dating you get to chat with the person before you date them. Having read the prospect's profile, you should prepare some fun dating questions to work into the conversation. If the chatting goes well, you can establish yourself as funloving and funny, before you go on a date. • Why did you pick your screen nick? • What was your most embarrassing/proudest/scarriest moment? Because it's online and anonymous you can get much more honest answers to this question. • What is your favorite part of your body and why? Clearly this question leaves some room for a naughty answer. • If there where 3 things that you could change about yourself, what would they be? Bit of an honesty test there. • Do you squeeze the toothpaste from the middle or the end? This question can reveal obsessive compulsive personalities, they go on and on about how to do it right. • If you where an alien and you could abduct anyone on earth, who would you abduct and why? • Can you still say 'Stick it where the sun don't shine', on a nude beach? • If you where a fish, what kind of fish would you be? • If you where crowned king of the whole world, what would your first royal decree be? • What do you like best about being single? This can be a pretty revealing question, in terms of what they are looking for, in a relationship. • If you had a time machine and you could go back and change anything, what would it be? • If you could pick only one what would you be: attractive, rich or famous? • Why can't you get a tan on your palms? • What is the last movie that made you cry? If, you ask it to a girl and then she ask you, yours. Answer it truthfully, having some emotions is a good thing. • What do you like to eat to cheer yourself up? • Ever been arrested? • What kind of puppies do you hate the most? Good hub, and very funny questions indeed, not sure some would work in my world.think they say its Mars. Political correctness has put an end to some good banter between the sexes. People can have fun, have alaugh without the disrespect and put down between the genders. Where were you when I was dating though? Sure wouldn't have made some of the mistakes I did, always putting my big feet in my mouth, but I got away with it in the end. I found someone who was willing to listen, look beyond my crap and see the real me.she took a chance, and who is having much laughter today? 'Can you still say 'Stick it where the sun don't shine', on a nude beach?' I'd shove it where the sun don't shine if you got me naked in public. 'What is your favorite part of your body and why?' Hey, my eyes are up here. 'If you had a time machine and you could go back and change anything, what would it be?' And your mates. 'Why can't you get a tan on your palms?' Because I wear latex gloves when I put on my fake tan. 'What do you like best about being single?' Fending off married men. I love them all. In hotel rooms. 'What kind of puppies do you hate the most?' Ones who think they are man enough for me. Now who needs the sense of humour? 100% Francine X • •. • Play online Funny Face Maker Game game for free. Judith Himber, 73, and Robert Galvin, 75, who are dating, outside Dr. Himber’s home in Cambridge, Mass. Credit Mylan Cannon for The New York Times AFTER Judith Himber’s husband died in 2010, she didn’t know what to do with herself. “It was a stunning loss,” said Ms. Himber, 73, who works full time as a clinical psychologist in Cambridge, Mass. She was not sure if she would ever want another relationship; her marriage had been long and happy. But after two years alone she realized that she did want a partner. One problem: She hadn’t been on a date in 33 years. “I felt old, unattractive and the idea seemed ludicrous,” she said. Still, she joined Match.com, JDate and eHarmony, online dating sites. She found it “excruciating.” “Signing on each morning and seeing that over 100 guys had looked at my profile and none had contacted me was dreadful,” she said. “These two profiles help us understand the clients’ values and personality styles,” said Ms. Wolman, who works with clients of all ages. “It may not sound very romantic, but finding love is a numbers game. It’s all about increasing odds and being open to new possibilities.” According to AARP, 45 percent of adults 65 and older are divorced, separated or widowed. The 60-plus crowd represents in online daters, said Wendy K. Watson and Charlie Stelle, professors of gerontology at Bowling Green State University. Since its start just over a year ago, AARP Dating, which has teamed with, a website, to suggest actual offline dates, has attracted almost 60,000 users, said Michelle Alvarez, an AARP spokeswoman. But online dating can be daunting for this demographic. Unlike younger daters, who are versed in the special etiquette of digital romance, many older people struggle with it. And that’s why some seniors are calling matchmakers and dating coaches to help them make sense of the whole situation. “A surprising number of older people don’t use computers at all, and many who do aren’t comfortable using them for dating sites,” said Judith Gottesman, a geriatric social worker turned matchmaker who works with Jewish singles of all ages along the West Coast. About 90 percent of the estimated 3,000 matchmakers in the United States will work with seniors, though not necessarily exclusively, said Lisa Clampitt, co-founder of the Matchmaking Institute, which trains professional matchmakers. But she warns prospective clients — especially women — to ask matchmakers how many older men they have in their database. “Older women often get ripped off with empty promises from matchmakers that they have plenty of men for them,” she said. One of the big dating challenges for both sexes in this age group is that they are so rusty “they go back to their same awkward self at age 20, insecure and unsure,” said Ms. Gottesman, who charges a $3,600 registration fee that is good for up to three years, and an additional $7,200 once a couple is matched. “They might be very trusting of people and they shouldn’t be. They might think if they kiss them good night they’re going to call. Kisses aren’t promises.”. Peggy Wolman, a dating coach, believes her age helps give her credibility among the senior set. Credit Evan McGlinn for The New York Times Indeed, companionship is among the top reasons both men and women over 60 seek love, according to research conducted by AARP on what older singles want. In contrast, most of those 50 to 59 were looking for a serious relationship. Harold Spielman, 86, is the co-author of “Suddenly Solo: A Lifestyle Road Map for the Mature Widowed and Divorced Man,” which he wrote after his wife of 32 years died in 2008 and he found himself adrift. The founder of a market research firm, Mr. Spielman asked 1,600 men and women over 55 about their feelings on love. Among his findings: More than 80 percent of both men and women said that the main reason to couple was “to share life experiences, past and future,” said Mr. Spielman, who lives in Sands Point on Long Island. Though he is dating, “at this point I’m not prepared to remarry,” he said. Financial considerations are among the biggest reasons people in their 60s and older are reluctant to remarry, said Pepper Schwartz, a professor of sociology at the University of Washington, and AARP’s love and relationship ambassador. Some fret that they’ll find someone who is “only looking for a secure financial harbor to land,” she said. Many also worry about protecting their children’s inheritance, which marrying could seriously compromise. Those who do want to remarry “come waving a prenuptial at each other,” said Ms. Schwartz, adding that few get offended because they’re mostly all in the same position. Jerry Slutzky, 61, an estate planning lawyer and certified financial planner in Tampa, Fla., was divorced for 17 years when he called Nancy H. Wall, a matchmaker and life coach. He had gone the online route but wanted real-world support. Wall, whose fees range from nothing to $10,000 a year, depending on her level of involvement, spent nearly two hours discussing what he was looking for. She introduced him to about 10 women, whom he initially met at a Starbucks or Panera Bread for a 15-minute introduction. Only two of the women were on dating websites. “These were women I would never have had an opportunity to meet,” he said. He liked a few but did not end up pursuing any long term. He eventually met his wife, Helen, whom he recently married, online. They signed a prenuptial agreement. Advertisement When it comes time to go on the actual date itself, some relationship coaches, like Thomas Edwards, will go out on the town with their charges. Edwards, 28, is the founder of the Professional Wingman, a social strategy consultancy in New York that helps singles develop better interpersonal skills to improve their love life. About 75 percent of his clients are male; rates range from $1,000 to $5,000 a month. “We put them in social environments where they’re able to meet people and see in real time what’s preventing them from dating,” said Mr. Edwards, who is currently working with a 63-year-old man. “If I notice he’s saying something that’s not going to be great in conversation, I’ll elbow him and say, ‘Change the subject.’ Or, ‘She’s totally checking you out. Go there and talk to her.’ ” Ms. Gottesman has her own list of first date no-nos: Don’t talk incessantly about — or show photos of — your deceased spouse. Don’t talk disparagingly about your ex. Don’t whip out your collection of diabetes, cholesterol or heart medications. And don’t give up — something Ms. Wolman had to keep reminding Ms. “There were fun moments, but sometimes I just wanted to pack it in and go back to my knitting,” she said. And then one day, Robert Galvin, 75, a commercial real estate lawyer in Boston whose partner of 30 years had died six months after Ms. Himber’s husband, contacted her on Match.com. They had three dates. Then on Christmas Eve 2012, Mr. Galvin went to her home for the first time, ostensibly to take her to see the film “Lincoln.” They never left the house. “We are madly in love,” she said, adding that they do not expect to marry but that she does have a ring. “I could go on and on about the importance of love at this stage of life. Love is possible in old age and necessary for some of us. And there is passion. I thought old folks went for companionship. There is that, but it is a deep, deep companionship.”. An overview Summary Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is characterized by the inability to appropriately modulate attention and/or impulse control and hyperactivity, resulting in social, academic and occupational underachievement, is presently the topic of intensive discussion in German psychiatry. With a prevalence of 3–5%, ADHD is one of the most frequently seen disorders in child and adolescent psychiatry. With nearly 50% of childhood patients also affected during adulthood, this disorder is of much higher clinical significance for psychiatry than presumed thus far. The present review discusses current results of epidemiology, etiology, clinical symptoms and comorbidity, diagnostic assessment, pharmacotherapy, and psychological interventions for adults with ADHD. Abstract Background. The common characteristic of all infants in our study was the aversive experience of repeated oral traumatization which resulted in the necessity of long term tube feeding. In neonates with congenital anomalies of the mouth, palate, bowl and gut, operative measures are needed postpartum to allow later oral feeding. Some infants become dependant of tube feeding without antecedent organic manipulation. ![]() Results and discussion. This paper highlights our experience of weaning 62 infants from the tube under the age of three years, who had been tube fed entirely over a period longer than 3 months. The multidisciplinary cooperation between all the involved teams proved to be essential. The task of transition from tube to oral feeding and weaning the infants, was successful in all cases. We highlight the necessity of primary weightloss of up to 13% of the bodyweight in the process of weaning, before the transition to a selfregulated hunger-satiation cycle is reestablished. When my 65-year-old mother joined her first dating site a few years ago, she just jumped into it without doing any research or asking anyone for advice — even her own daughter who, funnily enough, writes about dating for a living. Some people try online because they’re looking for companionship, some for love, and some are tentatively dipping in a toe to see who’s out there. I did it because I wanted to have fun, flirt and meet men outside my social group. I’m 50 and have been single for two years, since my husband died, and have a daughter of 21 and twin boys of 19. I felt some trepidation about putting myself out there. Shameless self-promotion! Especially for someone who barely has an online presence. But 15 million people in the UK are registered for online and one in five relationships now start online. It’s the third most popular way to meet (after pubs and through friends). And I could always go incognito when I’ve had enough – it’s the internet, after all! There are an overwhelming 1,400 sites, though, so where to start? I decide to try those recommended by friends and that advertise the best success rates:, as it’s the UK’s largest,, because it may have like-minded souls on it, and because I’m 50. Can find me a match? How it works It’s simple to set up your profile and upload a photo. I go for the least level of exposure, with a black and white pic of me wearing sunglasses. The site asks questions about my looks, level of education, lifestyle and beliefs, and then the difficult bit: my ideal match. I say I am looking for a slim, six-foot Caucasian man, easygoing, energetic, enthusiastic, generous, confident and funny. I realise I am describing my husband. Maybe I should be more experimental. I describe myself as slim, blonde, widowed, easygoing and ready for a new relationship (all true) and give myself the name Life Enhancer. Before you can contact the men they suggest, you must subscribe. It’s £29.99 a month (but there are various subscription options, and it’s cheaper per month if you sign up for longer). Before you email the men, you ‘wink’ at them and they ‘wink’ back (you hope), so you know you’re chatting to a willing contender. The men I find First up is Nottinghillbilly, pictured with messy hair, a beard and in a leather jacket. He likes my tagline, Life Enhancer, and asks for photo of me without my sunglasses (he’d been on a date with someone who wore sunglasses in her photo and it turned out she had a glass eye). But he wants me to email him direct, which is not encouraged by the site and makes me suspicious. I don’t contact him again. I then peruse Oddball, Goopile and Naked Plumber. A guy called Wayne winks, but on his profile I discover he is recovering from having his brain tinkered with on the NHS, and much as he sounds lovely, I need someone straightforward at this stage in my life. LondonArty looks younger than some so I try him. He responds by asking me to come up and see his Samurai Swords. Er, no thanks. But I agree to meet Unicorn, a 66-year-old retired construction engineer, for a coffee in the West End, where we both work. Pros There is a lot of choice of men and every day I get winks and emails, which makes me feel popular. Cons They’re keen to interact but not to meet up. It’s hard to find even a vaguely good-looking one, at least in the age-range I specified.: will I find mine? How it works Being a Guardian reader, I assume this will be dominated by intelligent, solvent and liberal Guardian readers. I upload the same photo and answer the same questions and details as I did on Match.com. I’m still Life Enhancer but add that I have just finished an MA in English Literature. It is the Guardian after all. A feature called Your Matches creates a list of compatible, potential dates. It’s more niche than Match.com so there is less traffic which means less potential dates. Subscription, to connect with dates, costs £32 for a month, £64 for three months or £96 for six months. The men I find On day one, I get six matches who are all in their fifties, rated an overall 75 per cent match with me. That means we have interests in common and fit into the right age bracket. Only Corona emails, saying he is solvent, a widower, and likes Daft Punk and Bowie. Not bad, I think. But he only wants to chat and I don’t clinch a date. Ellyleadguitarist sends a good email: “Hey you! Like the sunglasses! In fact, we have completely matching sunglasses so obviously we’ll be married in no time at all. Oh, wait” Sounds amusing but his photo puts me off. How quickly I’ve got used to making snap judgements! Pros The site is easy to negotiate and the men are more forthcoming in their descriptions of themselves. Cons I don’t get many matches so feel a bit disheartened. Even my MA isn’t doing it.: there’ s a lot of us out there How it works I face up to my fifties, take the bull by the horns and sign on to DatingOver50s. As suitable traffic has not been forthcoming on the other sites, and now feeling more confident, I upload a different photo, this time wearing a hat. I also change my profile to “I like to banter and flirt and have fun”. This is obviously the equivalent to saying “I’m available for sex right now” as I receive 83 messages, 140 winks and am 32 people’s favourite. I’m deluged with compliments (I’m “stunning” and a “honey”) and requests for dates. Think I’ll stay on this website forever; my ego is growing exponentially. Perhaps it’s the age-group, perhaps it’s my new tagline, but these men are more comfortable with the idea of a face-to-face connection than endless digital interactions. The men I find I have lots of banter and flirting with men, then a long interaction with Peter from Royston. He implies he has enough money not to work but is bored being single and would like a companion to share his holidays and life with. We have similar taste in music and talk about the joys of travelling around the States. It’s enough for me to agree to a date. King’s Cross champagne bar, here we come. Pros The men are confident, strike up conversations more quickly, and ask more interesting questions than on the other sites. I feel more comfortable on this website than any of the others. Cons Everybody is over 50!: the dating app How it works Although the over-50s are fun, I want to see how I fare on a younger site so I download the Tinder app. Photos of men and boys in my area ping on to my screen and I can press a green heart if I fancy him or a red cross if I don’t. And completely superficial. You sign on via Facebook so Tinder receives your public profile, friend list, email address, relationship interest, birthday, status updates and everything else. I find this disconcerting and rather too revealing, but soon get over it. And unless you are matched (i.e. You both fancy each other) guys can’t see your profile. The men I find My first message is from someone I recognise and share Facebook friends with. He’s wishing he could fly away to sunshine and golden beaches with me and moves quite quickly on to what oil I’d like for our candlelit bath No, I’m not ready for this. I prefer Rajiv, who likes my “elegant and sophisticated look” and is looking for stimulating conversation. He works close by and we arrange to meet. Pros Fast, fun and amusing. Cons Time wasting and addictive. And the dating sites that weren’t for me and offer long and detailed psychometric tests that, boringly, take hours to fill in. Is a good idea: people say what they’d most like to do on a date, and have lots of fun ideas. But there are too many choices and all in their twenties and thirties. Niche sites out there include for rural,, where the children of single parents in their 50s recommend their parents for dates, and the well-known, where a close friend writes your profile and introduces you to potential dates. For a laugh I had a look. The profiling asks no questions, just your email address and the age-range you’re interested in. Several men are seeking women anywhere between 25 and 79. As its name implies, it’s just about the sex. I’m not ready for this site and probably never will be! I joined this site to get back into the dating game. I am disappointed as, most of the matches are outside my area, even though there are members in my locale. If I want to know that my messages have been read by others I have to pay for 'Bolt ons' which permit this. Since this morning my profile keeps changing randomly even when I change it back, it changes again, eg, location, preferences, such age, height, hair, etc. It is not worth the 59.00 I paid out. ![]() I will not be paying for another month. I signed up after receiving an advertisement through my emails. It looked like the very one for me as I was looking for a more mature companion/partner. You can sign up for free, just as the advert said, but then it costs to retrieve messages. The responses that I did receive were very disappointing, supposedly from honest, sincere, gentlemen looking for their soul mate. Scammers target lonely hearts on dating sites As a man is jailed for defrauding two women of almost £300,000, we look at how to avoid being conned online. Date democrats and green singles with liberal hearts using our free dating site for U.S. Warning...beware of the words 'passionate, affectionate, or loving', if you get my drift!! A waste of money in my experience, such a shame because I did have high hopes of finding a likeminded someone who was not just looking for sex and a housemaid (in that order!). Joined because of my age, and wanting a partner about the same age. I love to dance. Regularly got 'interest' from women who were seriously over-weight, far too old or lived many miles away. My biggest gripe was that the company - Venntro Media Group - is run from London, (no Australian contacts at all), and they read and censor everything you write. I was not allowed to say that I wanted only to meet women who lived in Northern Brisbane. Finally they will not let you know who is a 'paid up' member, (that you can make contact with), and who is not 'paid up' - so joining is a 'contact' gamble. The tables are filled with young women and men who’ve been chasing money and deals on Wall Street all day, and now they’re out looking for hookups. Everyone is drinking, peering into their screens and swiping on the faces of strangers they may have sex with later that evening. “Ew, this guy has Dad bod,” a young woman says of a potential match, swiping left. Her friends smirk, not looking up. “Tinder sucks,” they say. But they don’t stop swiping. At a booth in the back, three handsome twentysomething guys in button-downs are having beers. They are Dan, Alex, and Marty, budding investment bankers at the same financial firm, which recruited Alex and Marty straight from an Ivy League campus. (Names and some identifying details have been changed for this story.) When asked if they’ve been arranging dates on the apps they’ve been swiping at, all say not one date, but two or three: “You can’t be stuck in one lane There’s always something better.” “If you had a reservation somewhere and then a table at Per Se opened up, you’d want to go there,” Alex offers. ![]() This stunning, all-suite luxury property in Puerto Morelos has 103 incredibly spacious rooms with huge balconies or patios. Though many have full kitchens, there is only one on-site restaurant, El Faro, which serves international and Mexican cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- but the menu can get repetitive, especially for those on the all-inclusive plan. Sugar-white beaches, award-winning cuisine, full-service activities—you'll find it all (and more) at the 10 best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico's Riviera Maya. The beach is superior to many in the area, with soft white sand, calm waters, and a lack of seaweed. The hotel offers free parking and Wi-Fi, and has an excellent on-site gym, but the tiny spa is a bit of a letdown. The Grand Velas -- set on over 80 acres of mangroves that meet a postcard-perfect beach of white sand and turquoise waters -- is one of Riviera Maya’s most sophisticated properties. It features 491 top-notch suites spread out in three different buildings (two family-friendly, one adults-only), all with their own stunning pool complexes, gyms, and restaurants. The property is so huge guests will need to take a three-minute shuttle ride from the farthest building to the beach, but the hotel’s spotless service, outstanding food, luxurious spa, and wonderful amenities make it a great pick for discerning (and well-heeled) travelers. The 310-room, luxury Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso is a Las Vegas-style, adult-only resort on the Riviera Maya. The resort is part of the five-hotel Iberostar complex, and guests at this hotel may use the amenities at all five properties, some of which are family-friendly. The high-end experience starts with champagne upon arrival, and continues with premium liquor, fine dining, a full-service spa, and several pools, including one dedicated to tranquil relaxation. The opulent decor incorporates marble and mosaic floors, glass chandeliers, modern artwork, and artisan-crafted furnishings. The lush, landscaped grounds complete the picture. Rooms are large and upscale, with jetted tubs, glass shower stalls, and personalized minibars. El Dorado Casitas Royale, the intimate, more upscale section of El Dorado Royale is an adults-only, all-inclusive property about midway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. While amenities are the same on both sides of the resort, El Dorado Casitas Royale is quieter and feels more secluded than the rest of the property. Rooms are large and luxurious, with wood-beamed ceilings, huge bathrooms with outdoor showers, and two-person hot tubs. Some rooms have private swim-up terraces, or balconies with infinity-edge plunge pools. Most guests choose to spend their days at one of the hotel’s several pools (some have a swim-up bar) because the beach is small and rocky, and not so suitable for swimming. The on-site restaurants serve an array of cuisine types, but the food is mediocre at best. Located on the Riviera Maya, south of Cancun, the 412-room Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun is a romantic, adults-only all-inclusive resort, set on a private white-sand beach lined with sunbeds, cabanas, and palapas. In addition to the buffet, a wide range of high-quality dining options are available, including Japanese teppanyaki, French cuisine, a wine cellar with over 200 different vintages, and, for an extra charge, romantic dinners for two on the beach. A stunning destination-style spa offers couples' treatments in private outdoor cabanas on the beach. Rooms are large and tasteful, with four-poster canopy beds, separate sitting areas, and private balconies; ground floor rooms are swim-up suites. The hotel is especially popular for honeymoons and destination weddings, though numerous additional fees can make a stay here pricey. This adult-only resort lives up to the Excellence name, offering the standard amenities of the luxury chain: multiple attractive pools, numerous dining options, dozens of activities, and a solid spa with beachside treatment huts. The abundance of marble and columns throughout the property might be a bit too ostentatious for some, but it's definitely impressive -- as are the rooms. The rooms feature hot tubs and open bathrooms, which shouldn't be a problem for most visitors choosing an adults-only resort. All have terraces or balconies, and a gorgeous stretch of beach is right outside the door. This adult-only, luxury property with 507 rooms appeals to both 20- and 30-something couples. A particular draw of this resort is its proximity to the nightlife of downtown Playa del Carmen, especially bustling 5th Avenue, with the party-oriented will appreciate. But the gorgeous stretch of beach and the sophisticated rooms with two-person jetted tubs means romantic-minded couples will be pleased here as well. The range of features is, unsurprisingly, extensive, including seven restaurants and seven bars, an Olympic-sized pool, a wedding center, a spa, and daily entertainment. El Dorado Maroma, is an adult-only all-inclusive about 40 minutes south of Cancun. The resort is smaller and quieter than many nearby all-inclusives, but it’s chock-full of amenities. There are six on-site restaurants, numerous bars, multiple pools, a spa with beachfront massage services, and a modern fitness center. There is a wide range of room options at El Dorado Maroma, including suites with swim-up terraces. However, the beach -- which is little more than a marina with sand -- is disappointing. Food and drinks throughout the hotel are fairly mediocre, but most restaurants feel character-less and slightly unappealing. This luxurious, 433-room all-inclusive resort is an adult-only escape with a fairly remote location a half-hour drive south of Cancun's bustling Hotel Zone. There's a classy, jet-set vibe, and spring break shenanigans are prohibited, as are children under 18. Extensive features include a white-sand beach (that's smaller than those at competing properties),eight pools, nine restaurants, and abundant bars -- plus nightly entertainment to keep things lively. There is a full-service spa as well as a nicely outfitted fitness center, not to mention regular yoga and water aerobics classes. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and modern, all with amazing whirlpool tubs and balconies or patios. Really fantastic free Wi-Fi is offered throughout (reception can even be found on the beach). The luxurious Palace Resorts’ Playacar Palace is located directly on the beach in the Playacar resort community, next to the Cozumel Island ferry and a short walk to Quinta Avida in downtown Playa del Carmen. Most of the 208 stylishly decorated rooms have balconies offering stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. All come with bathrobes and slippers, a whirlpool, free Wi-Fi, and in-room wine and a liquor dispenser filled with quality brands. The property itself is beautifully grand, yet has a nice intimate feel to it -- especially with the staff that is known for treating guests like family. In addition to beach fun, there’s also an abundance of other on-site activities: table tennis, aqua aerobics, access to a neighboring 18-hole golf course, water polo, karaoke, and live shows nightly. Three restaurants offer international cuisine in both casual and elegant settings -- though for an all-inclusive, the selection can feel limiting. For further amenities and dining options, the resort provides free transportation to other Palace properties and resorts in the hotel zone. The Royal Hideaway is a member of exclusive hospitality consortium Leading Hotels of the World, and as such is one of the most luxurious properties in the area. It features upscale rooms with high-end amenities, a full-service spa with great treatments, several pools, and the best food around. The beautiful grounds, overall sophisticated vibe, adults-only policy, and beautiful beachfront location a short drive from shopping on Playa’s Fifth Avenue make it one of the most attractive options for couples in Playacar. Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Perla is one of the best adults-only, all-inclusive luxury resorts in Maya Riviera. This chic property is located directly on the Caribbean, but the patch of white sand is narrow and it's a bit far from downtown Playa Del Carmen. No kids allowed means the gorgeous swimming pools remain calm and serene; there's a swim-up bar and waiter service, but guests tend to be seeking peace and quiet rather than a rowdy party scene. Even the most affordable rooms have marble floors and free minibars stocked daily. An upgrade means access to a semi-private swim-up pool and/or butler service. A huge variety of all-inclusive restaurants and bars get high marks for quality and service. The spa is romantic, with a water ritual, sexy day beds, and an expansive treatment menu. The 540-room Valentine Imperial Maya is an adult-only, all-inclusive luxury resort set in an exclusive area of the Riviera Maya known as Playa Secreto. The draws here are the long white-sand beach, massive main pool with two swim-up bars, lazy river (select rooms have swim-out access), quality food, lively entertainment, beautiful grounds, and full-service spa and fitness center. Rooms have traditional, earth-tone decor, and all have outdoor space -- some have ocean views, though they can be obstructed by vegetation on lower floors. There are 11 bars where top-shelf liquor is included, and seven a la carte restaurants where reservations are not required (though Privilege Package guests can make reservations to avoid a wait). With only 90 suites, the Zoetry Paraiso offers a romantic, wellness-centric boutique experience in the Mayan Riviera. The unique layouts of the suites offers different experiences to guests, including Terrace Suites with small bath-side indoor gardens, and Plunge Pool Suites with small personal outdoor pools. Even though warm, Mediterranean style is a bit different in each room type, all are spacious with comfortable furnishings and Bulgari toiletries. The pool area and beach are relaxed with double-wide lounge chairs (perfect for couples), and the on-site dining keeps the resort's wellness theme alive with delicious, healthy meals. Included amenities not standard at most all-inclusive resorts, such as a 'welcome' bottle of tequila, daily bottle of champagne, a one-hour Catamaran sunset sail, three-times-daily maid service, and private chauffeured airport transfers, make this resort a standout among Puerto Morelos' finest properties (though expect the price to reflect that). Hotel Riu Palace Mexico is an upscale 434-room resort set along the beach in Playa del Carmen’s upmarket Playacar area. A 2012 renovation brought most of the interiors up to date with plenty of glitzy touches while the hotel's ground are some of the most pristine you'll see. Facilities are excellent, including ample eating and drinking options, plenty of pools and sports, and daily entertainment, while kids are also well-catered for. Rooms aren't perfect -- some are prone to damp and others have poor views -- though jetted tubs and liquor dispensers as standard are high points. All in all, it's a strong contender in a crowded market, drawing families and couples who prefer relaxing over partying. This is the nicest Riu in the area. El Dorado Royale, a sprawling 450-acre oceanfront property, is an adult-only resort with a dizzying array of amenities. With 13 gorgeous pools, seven restaurant options, a handful of bars, an incredible spa, and activities like yoga, snorkeling, and kayaking, guests will never be bored, or hungry, during their stay. Rooms have nice features like fully stocked mini-bars and large balconies, but don’t feel as luxurious as they could be for the price and four-and-a-half pearl rating. With unsightly sand bags and a rocky ocean floor, the beach is not the prettiest, nor is it the best for swimming. Like many other all-inclusives, the food is mediocre, and quality varies between restaurants. Guests looking for something a bit more intimate with better rooms should check out El Dorado Casitas Royale, which is located on the same property as El Dorado Royale, and shares its restaurants and amenities. The 687-room Hard Rock Riviera Maya is an upscale all-inclusive resort that pushes hard to instill its brand name. Expect rock-themed rooms, all with jetted tubs and balconies(some with ocean views). There are three pools, six restaurants, two kids' clubs, a constant barrage of adventure activities, a convention center, and Wi-Fi even in the remote areas. Note that even though this is the family-friendly side of the Hard Rock complex (sister resort Heaven at Hard Rock is for adults only), it can still get a bit rowdy during high season. This 97-room all-inclusive resort feels more like an upscale beach community -- complete with thatched roofs and quaint seaside cabanas. Rooms are spacious, with airy island-style designs and lots of luxurious touches, like deep-dish sinks, flat-screen TVs, and private patios or balconies. Some suites are swim-up, which border the gorgeous pool linking a group of suites at ground level. The four on-site restaurants offer a decent variety to guests, including a bar dedicated solely to tequila, though those staying for more than an extended weekend may find the options a bit limited. But families will appreciate that the restaurants offer kid-friendly options, and the daily kids' club -- a bright, fun space with tons of games and toys -- is a great place for children to hang out while adults dine or visit the spa. Sensimar Seaside Suites & Spa is an adult-only resort located on a secluded beach halfway between Playa del Carmen and the famous Mayan ruins of Tulum. This hotel offers 282 spacious suites with double Jacuzzis, terraces or balconies, and flat-screen TVs with DVD players. While the location is fairly isolated, this resort has a long list of amenities including a great spa, tennis court, outdoor yoga sessions, and scuba clinics. There are many spots here to relax, including three pools and a total of 12 restaurants and bars. The 496-room Now Sapphire is a sprawling complex directly on a white-sand beachoutside Puerto Morelos. The property features the standard Cancun resort amenities -- free non-motorized water sports, a wide array of dining options, a pleasant spa with various treatment options, and an impressive pool. Suites are massive (starting at 520 square feet) and feature elegant, contemporary decor, marble floors, and up-to-date amenities such as flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. However, it’s far from tourist attractions, and Wi-Fi fees can leave guests feeling nickel-and-dimed. Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Esmeralda is one of the best family-friendly resorts on the Yucatan Peninsula. This luxury property is located directly on the Caribbean and includes access to a white sand beach. The swimming pool, with a pirate ship playground and a swim-up bar, makes it a popular spot among families and partiers. Even the most affordable rooms here include marble floors and sensory soaking tubs. Upgrading often means swim-up pools and/or kitchenettes. Restaurant and bar optionsinclude everything from a show cooking buffet, to Argentinian-style steaks, to burritos, to sushi. Vacationers that go all-out for the Family Concierge level rooms get access to private pools, a tricked-out club lounge, and expedited service -- but those who don't book it have reported feeling like second-class citizens. The ultimate family getaway, the all-inclusive 438-room Azul Sensatori mega-resort offers a fabulous kids' club, with fairly modern amenities, lots of fun colors and spaces, and even a life-size Dora the Explorer running around. For the adults, the spa is airy and luxurious with soothing decor. On the hotel's website, the beach looks stunning, but in reality it is full of seaweed and rocks, making it not the greatest place to swim. It is, however, still a great place to rent some kayaks, play beach sports, and get a golden Mexico tan. Fortunately for those looking to swim, the winding lazy river pool weaves around the property, which many swim-up rooms border. Rooms are large, bright, and luxurious, some with private balconies or large hot tubs. Although there are hardly any restaurants or non-beach activities in the immediate area, on-site restaurants (including the 12-course, exclusive Le Chique, and Mojito Lounge, with 31 specialty mojitos) and hotel-oriented activities offer plenty to keep vacationers busy. The 288-room Catalonia Royal Tulum is an adult-only all-inclusive with a beautiful beach (despite some seaweed) and large pool. None of the rooms have ocean views, but they're large; the more stylish Privileged Deluxe Rooms are well worth the upgrade. Being a Privileged guest also means VIP beach access, and premium drinks at any of the bars and restaurants throughout the hotel. Food at Catalonia is mediocre, and restaurants range from the typical all-inclusive buffet to an outdoor tapas spot, to fine-dining Italian. The 630-room Grand Bahia Principe Akumal was brought up to the brand's Luxury status in late 2014, and guests can now expect a top-notch all-inclusive experience. It's directly in front of a sprawling beach with turquoise waters, white sand, and rocky reefs, and there are also 13 different, including beach bars, pool bars, buffets, and a la cartes. Other features include a rejuvenating and relaxing hydrotherapy; kids' club; and two sparkling beach-view pools. Rooms have attractive, if not luxurious, beachy colonial style, ample amenities including toiletry kits, stocked minibars (with top-shelf liquor), butler service, and a pillow menu. The complex's other Luxury status property, the Sian Ka'an, is more luxurious and often costs about the same -- but it is for adults only. Set in the Playacar district of Playa del Carmen, the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is an upscale, 400-room resort set on a pristine section of beach. It’s got all the glitz and glamor of a Las Vegas casino hotel, combined with a hacienda-style architecture and massive gardens. There are numerous restaurants on-site, a massive main pool, kid’s pool and kids’ club, and plenty of daily entertainment -- not to mention a spa, gym, and loungers everywhere. Traditionally styled rooms aren’t perfect and could use updating; some of them only have views of the walls from the balconies. This is one of two Palace-level Riu resorts in the complex; the Riu Palace Mexico has a more modern look in its rooms. The Palace offers a high-end all-inclusive experience on a gorgeous stretch of white-sand beach 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. It’s the smallest, newest and most upscale of the three properties in the Barcelo complex, with 756 beautiful rooms surrounded by gorgeous pools and manicured grounds. All rooms are Junior Suites or Suites with pretty bathrooms featuring separate showers and tubs. There’s a lot for everyone here, from couples to families to groups, but those who want to party will have to walk to the hotel's sister properties next door, and non-Club Premium guests should expect to pay for Wi-Fi. Perhaps the most luxurious of the Dreams hotels in southern Mexico, this 486-room resort attracts families with its numerous pools, kids' club, daily activities, and white-sand beach with calm waters. But couples will not feel out of place, as the attractive, airyguest rooms are downright romantic. Teak wood and marble floors create an ambience of understated elegance, and the massive bathrooms (all with separate showers andJacuzzi tubs) are a real treat. Plus, the indoor/outdoor spa has small plunge pools, Jacuzzis, and numerous treatment rooms. Some of the restaurants can get loud during peak hours, but other than that, Dreams Riviera Cancun is a tranquil resort for its size. The 320-room mid-range Ocean Maya Royale is an adult-only resort located on a private beach, 15 minutes from the center of Playa del Carmen. The resort is quiet and colorful, with plenty of sports and games, as well as ample opportunity for chilling out by the ocean or one of the two pools. The on-site restaurants offer a variety of world cuisines, and reservations are never required at the a la carte dining rooms. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern, but lack the rustic, Mexican character and coziness of many neighboring resorts. That said, the Ocean Maya Royale is definitely doing something right, as it gets a great deal of repeat business. Blue Diamond Riviera Maya by BlueBay is an excellent option for couples looking for a more intimate and luxurious all-inclusive option outside of the hustle of Cancun. The four-and-a-half pearl property is spread out over gorgeous grounds that are partially manicured and artistic and partially jungle-like and wild so the overall ambiance is natural and feels almost isolated. No kids allowed means the two swimming pools, sandy beach, and plethora of restaurants are generally quiet and relaxing. Adult-friendly facilities include a sleek spa (free access to use the steam room and pool), cigar lounge, and one of the best equipped gyms in Mexico. Suites and casitas come standard with private outdoor bathtubs and minibars stocked with free drinks. Like its newest sibling in Los Cabos, the all-suite goes to great lengths to stand apart from its all-inclusive neighbors—all in the name of luxury. Humdrum buffet spreads are nixed for gourmet meals prepared by French, Spanish, and Mexican chefs, while one of the restaurants even has its own AAA Five-Diamond award. Suites feel as romantic as they are massive (1,100 square feet— to start), with plunge pools on private terraces and spectacular ocean views. And whether you spring for a multi-room Ambassador Suite for the kids or a Grand-Class Adults Only Suite (hot tub included) with that special someone, butler service comes standard. As if that isn't enough, their spa is also one of the largest in the country. Despite being within easy driving distance of Playa del Carmen, some guests never leave the boundaries of for the duration of their stay. One stroll through the property and you'll understand why. A whopping eight restaurants, 10 bars, five hot tubs, six pools, and a grocery list of activities (including miles of jogging trails) keep your days packed to the brim. Don't bother making reservations for dinner—there's enough options here to ensure you never have to wait. The 440 guest rooms take a page from the Mediterranean—think stucco, marble, and tile everywhere—with furnished balconies or patios and four-whirlpool tubs. When nap-time calls, forgo your four-poster bed for a hammock on the lawn or, better yet, a palapa on the beach—which, if you booked the Junior Swim-Up Suite, will be reserved just for you. This has been wooing all-inclusive fans for decades. It might be its eye-catching guest rooms (including a group of multi-level villas) that are done up in attractive Spanish colonial details like Carrera marble and lattice-wood headboards, its restaurants (whose global dishes favor Pan-Asian specialities like hibachi), or its arsenal of activities, from sailing and windsurfing to basketball. Best of all, the resort is just a five-minute walk from downtown and all the shopping and people watching that comes with it. While the adults-only El Dorado Royale is arguably the best in the Karisma Hotels portfolio,, its hotel within the hotel, takes it a step further. In addition to the main property's bars, restaurants, pools, and spa, you'll also have run of the private section's swim-up bars and restaurants (there are seven each), which are reserved exclusively for Casitas guests. Once you've had your fill, retreat to one of its 171 suites, which each come with their own outdoor shower, covered balcony, and reserved thatch-roof bed on the beach. If options and convenience are the plot points of your vacation dreams, say hello to the, sandwiched between a private bay and downtown. The 14 restaurants and 11 bars on site mean it's possible you'll never eat at the same place twice, while the massive, 20,000-square-foot Yhi Spa ensures you have space to spread out, whether that's during an intimate pilates or yoga class, in the heated pools, or at the outdoor lounge, whose day beds just beg for post-treatment snoozes. Two caveats: the beach is pretty but narrow, and room service, while available, costs extra. A relative newcomer to the Riviera Maya hotel scene, is turning the all-inclusive experience on its head—namely, by infusing local culture into its luxury experience. Works by local artisans are on display throughout the hotel and available for purchase, while a calendar of events (mescal tastings, musical performances, art competitions) provides a strong sense of place while keeping guests thoroughly engaged. You needn't worry about your room choice—all 448 of them come with either a swim-up pool or outdoor balcony spa tub—or shelling out for anything else, for that matter. Even off-property excursions and some spa treatments are included in the rate. |
